We have lived, traveled and eaten all over the world and our expectations are pretty high. Tampa has turned out to be a bit of a culinary wasteland for us, so I'm glad we found you. "I used to live in Rome and have been to Italy many times - this is one of the few places in the United States to get true pizzaiolo pizza! The owner, Peter, is friendly and accommodating, and the food is out of this world. I have had several of their pizzas and have never been less than thrilled at the results. I always get the garlic pie and add mushrooms and sausage, but the Fine Pie and Pistachio pizzas are also favorites. In addition to the food, the wine selections draws on some of my favorite Italian wines - I personally love the Monte Maria Montepulciano d'Abruzzo."

"The Pizza Raquel was simple yet exquisite. The Tampa Verde is the exact opposite of the Raquel but equally amazing. And the cannoli bests Bern's Dessert Room. Combined with the friendly staff and interesting owner, it is a winner. We'll be back."

"I hope you have a chance to check out Wood Fired. This definitely isn't just another wood burning pizzeria of the type that seems to be popping up all over the place these days. I really think it is something special. I have spent a lot of time talking to some of the best pizzaiolo around the country including Anthony Mangieri at Una Pizza Napoletana, Chris Bianco at Pizzeria Bianco, Jeff Varasano at Varasanos, Roberto Caporuscio at Keste, and I have to say I think Pete Taylor of Wood Fired is combining the best aspects of all of these places.  I have a feeling he is probably the number one contender for the best pizzeria in the US right now."
